The Truth About Negative Nancy’s

A good friend once gave me the greatest advice. I was venting about being upset and frustrated over the way someone had treated me so poorly; and completely unwarranted I might add. I was confused, angry and sad. I couldn’t understand for the life of me why this was happening or what I did to deserve such treatment.

My friend said to me: “Kelsey, when people treat you poorly or present themselves in a negative light, that is usually when they need love most. God tells us to love those who harm us, not to question why are get angry and upset, but to love them, to show them grace, to show them that there is light, despite such negativity.”

This truly opened my eyes and made me think of all those times that I would argue with my mom as a teenager or my husband after a stressful work week or in a road rage fit…

The anger and frustration said more about me than it did my mom, my husband or the other drivers on the road. The problem wasn’t them…it was me. The truth is, I was struggling with something internally and projecting that onto those around me.

You will always have those people in your life that no matter what, nothing is good enough. Hand them a hundred dollar bill and they want another 20..you get the picture. We have to know and accept that it is not our job or our duty to dissect the WHY of their behavior or to react on impulsive frustration, but rather to show love, grace and humility.

Negativity spreads like wildfire. Be The Change. Stand up. Be positive. Fight fire with LIGHT and watch your life change for the better.

Until Next Time on Kelsey’s Chronicles.
